Q: I am an architect in California. How do I obtain the course information required to complete my license renewal for the Disability Access Requirements for the state?
A: If you have completed a course that meets the California state requirements, you will find a link to the information on your "My Courses" page under the completed course at the bottom of the "Course Details" section. The link will say, "California Architects Board Disability Access Requirements Information".
Q: How can I recover my forgotten password?
A: You can reset your password using our Password Recovery Tool.
Q: How long will it take for my completed course credits to show up on my AIA transcript?
A: We report completed course credits to the AIA every Monday morning. The longest you will ever have to wait for us to report your credits to the AIA is a week.
Q: I cannot get the courses to play on my computer... What's wrong?
A: Our player is HTML5-compliant, so if you'd like to take advantage of our video streaming capabilities, please install an HTML5-capable browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If your browser is not HTML5-compliant, our course player will load using the Adobe Flash plug-in, so if you are still having problems viewing content, please install or upgrade Adobe Flash Player by visiting Adobe.com to download or upgrade your Flash Player.
Q: Do the courses have audio?
A: Yes, all do. You simply need speakers or earphones to hear the audio. Make sure that the volume controls are turned up and the speakers aren’t muted.
Q: How does the course video player work?
A: To start the course, click the PLAY button. The progress of the course will appear in a little horizontal bar under the image. To the right is the audio control for volume and muting. There is also a full-screen option that makes everything bigger to help in reading and viewing. You can pause the course at any time to take a break.
Q: How do I pause in the middle of the course?
A: The Play button becomes a Pause button while the program is playing. When you click on Pause, the button changes its name again to Play.
Q: Do I need to register every time I enroll for a course?
A: No, just register once on the site and enroll for a course just by clicking on the enroll button. All your pertinent information will be associated with that course, too. So, when you've completed it and passed the test, you'll receive credit and your progress will appear in your "My Courses" history.
Q: Do I have to be connected with the Internet to take a course?
A: The short answer is, "No." But if you're connected, you can take the course with audio and motion. If you plan to take the course on a laptop, away from WiFi, for example, you can download a slide-show version of the course and take it any time. To download a slide show, look for the download button on the right hand side of the Player, just below the course description.
Q: Do I have to be connected to the Internet to take the quiz?
A: Yes. The quiz at the end of every course must be taken while you're connected to the Internet in order to record your responses.
Q: Can I take courses on my mobile device?
A: Yes, TheContinuingArchitect.com is mobile-friendly! Just visit the site from your smartphone or web capable device!

For most mobile users, our courses can be streamed in full video format. For mobile devices that do not support video, courses can be downloaded in Adobe PDF format and can range in size from 5MB to 40MB or greater.
